CES: USB Stick Extends Media Access Across Your Network
“ The Wireless Media Stick will give your TV-connected media player access to files wherever you store them on your network.HSTi’s Wireless Media StickTech blogs are agog this morning with the Wireless Media Stick from Home Server Technologies Inc (HSTi), which should debut this week at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas . Supposedly, you can plug it into any USB-enabled DVD/Blu-Ray/media player hooked up to your TV/stereo, and trick the device into thinking all the storage on your computer/network is local and therefore usable. The media player thinks it’s just any other flash memory drive.
The specifics, however, are fuzzy. No one knows yet if this is playing over Wi-Fi or something else (though Wi-Fi makes the most sense), nor what it will cost, nor when it will debut. Perhaps details will come out this week during the show. ”
