Home Server Technologies Inc. presents the WirelessMediaStick™ at 2010 CeBIT
Hannover, Germany, March 2, 2010 – Home Server Technologies Inc. (HSTi) presents the Wireless Media Stick™. HSTi, located in Hall 13, Stand D14 – Alberta/Canada Pavilion, is demonstrating the product to illustrate an innovative new way that allows users to easily access and share media by streaming it via a standard USB port interface on an audio/visual device (DVD/Blu-ray player, TV, USB stereo and Digital picture frame).
The Wireless Media Stick™ is a virtual mass storage device which streams video, photos and music stored in any shared computer or mass storage device within your home/office network by utilizing your existing wireless router. It eliminates the need for a media storage device (i.e. computer to be placed next to your DVD/Blu-ray player, TV, digital picture frame or stereo). It is compatible with virtually any manufacturer’s audio/visual device that supports USB 2.0 (viewing/playing of stored media through the USB port) and utilizes a structured directory format. The technology is managed by a simple and intuitive web-based interface accessible from any computer in your home. You do not need to reprogram the Wireless Media Stick™ when you store new media files on your network; it automatically discovers it. In addition, you can use your existing remote control so it is very easy to use.
“We know many consumers are not tech savvy but still want to be able to view their vacation photos, stored videos or favourite music with their friends,” said Ramesh Uppal, President/CEO of Home Server Technologies Inc. “We wanted to provide users with the ability to access and share their media which could be stored anywhere in the world, in the most cost effective and easy-to-use method possible. We believe the Wireless Media Stick™ accomplishes these goals.”
Wireless Media Stick™ features:
- Wireless streaming of video, photos and music
- The Wireless Media Stick™ streams video, photos and music stored in any shared computer or mass storage device within your home network by using your existing wireless router. This eliminates the need for a media storage device (i.e. computer to be placed next to your DVD/Blu-ray player, TV, digital picture frame or stereo).
- Simple user interface
- The Wireless Media Stick™ uses the existing remote control for your playback device (i.e. DVD player remote control). This means you do not need to learn how to operate yet another new remote control.
- Simultaneously stream different media to multiple rooms (requires more than one device)
- This allows the flexibility to have your children listen to their favourite music downstairs, while you watch a video on your TV on the main floor and your spouse looks at photos on a digital photo frame upstairs.
- Standard USB 2.0 interface
- It plugs into a standard USB 2.0 connector on an audio/visual device. It does not need an additional power supply.
- Multiple audio/visual manufacturer compatibility
- It is compatible with most manufacturers A/V devices which have a USB 2.0 connection. This provides a huge installed base opportunity since it allows consumers to easily share their media files on their existing equipment and not have to purchase additional new and expensive equipment. In addition, you are not locked into a specific manufacturer’s proprietary solution.
- Universal media format
- The media format compatibility is controlled by the media playback device (i.e. DVD/Blu-ray player, digital photo frame, or stereo). The Wireless Media Stick™ just streams the media format it receives through to the playback device. Examples of supported formats are DivX, MP2, MP3, MP4, AVI, MPEG, WMF, JPEG, GIF, BMP, PNG (and others as supported by your playback device).
- HD compatible
- The Wireless Media Stick™ supports frame types 480p, 720p, 1080i/30fps, 1080p/24fps.
- Setup Wizard
- To simplify the installation and set up of the Wireless Media Stick™, a web-based Setup Wizard will prompt you through the process for sharing your media files.
- The following lists the computer requirements for the Setup Wizard
- Pentium 4 PC with 300Mhz or higher processor
- 128 MB or more RAM
- Windows XP, Windows Vista, & Windows 7(32/64 bit)
- Color screen resolution of 1024 x 768 or higher
- Internet Explorer 7 or later
- USB 1.1 or 2.0 port
- Future upgrade-ability
- The Wireless Media Stick™ has the capability to download new features via the internet. This capability will be available from our website and will ensure that we are always on the leading edge of market driven consumer features.
- Green technology
- The Wireless Media Stick™ is the epitome of green technology. It does not require a power supply or need additional remote controls. Effectively it runs on power already consumed by your electronic devices thus making it one of the greenest technologies in the market today. In addition, we extend the life of existing devices already deployed within your home effectively reducing the amount of electronic components that end up in landfills.
The following lists the playback requirements of the audio/visual devices:
- DVD player, TV, digital picture frame, stereo with USB playback port
- Wireless 802.11 b/g/n router
- PC, Mac or Linux machine with shared media
