What is the MyCAA Scholarship?

The MyCAA (My Career Advancement Account) program is a workforce-development benefit sponsored by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) for eligible military spouses. It provides up to $4,000 in tuition assistance for training, certifications, or an associate degree in a portable, high-demand career field.

MyCAA is intended to help military spouses pursue careers that can move with them as their service-member partner is reassigned.

At HSTi, we are proud to be a military-spouse-friendly institution ready to support students using MyCAA funding.

How It Works — Getting Started with MyCAA at HSTi

1.

Check eligibility for the MyCAA program: you must be the spouse of a service member in the eligible pay grades and status. (Military OneSource)

2.

Apply for your MyCAA account through the MyCAA portal. You’ll build an Education & Training Plan (E&TP) with your program and school. (mycaa.militaryonesource.mil)

3.

Contact HSTi’s admissions for military spouse students, mention you will use MyCAA, and select your program.

4.

Work with us to finalize your E&TP, including your selected program, course list, duration, cost. We’ll help ensure the program qualifies under MyCAA rules.

5.

Enroll in your HSTi program, after acceptance. MyCAA funds will be billed to HSTi once your E&TP is approved and you are registered.

6.

Begin classes and complete your program within the required timeframe. (MyCAA typically requires completion within ~3 years of the first course start date for associate-degree programs).

7.

Monitor your MyCAA account and stay in good standing, including making progress toward your portable-career goal.

MyCAA FAQ for HSTi Students

MyCAA covers tuition for approved certified/licensed programs, certificates or associate degrees in portable careers. It does not cover books, supplies, registration, equipment, uniforms, or other fees.
We will work with you to identify a program that meets MyCAA’s requirements (portable career field, certificate/license/associate degree, etc.). Please contact us to confirm before you begin.
    • Yes — generally you must complete your program within ~3 years of your first course start date and the annual fiscal-year limit applies (~$2,000 each year). (ccis.edu)

MyCAA maximum is $4,000 total. If your full tuition is more, you’ll be responsible for the remainder (including books, supplies, any non-covered costs). Our military-spouse scholarships can help reduce that remainder.

No. Once your MyCAA account, your E&TP and HSTi’s billing set-up are approved, MyCAA funds are sent directly to the institution. You must still register and may need to secure your classes in the meantime.

Because MyCAA is designed for portable careers, we offer online program formats and will work with you to support transfers/continuity. Please contact us early to plan for any relocation.
